Don't believe Ohio's new super-low jobless rate of 3.7%.
By Bill Cohen - March 23, 2001
There's good news and bad news on Ohio's unemployment front. The good news is the official jobless rate for February has just been announced as 3.7 percent, a new, modern-day low. The bad news is jobs officials admit the new number is probably a mistake. Jon Allen speaks for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

He tells Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen that no one who keeps track of the unemployment numbers believes the jobless rate could have dropped a full half of a percentage point in just one month, especially now that the economy is slowing down! Jon Allen and other Ohio jobs officials hope they will get a more accurate picture of the state's unemployment picture next month.
