How Ohio Is Trying To Teach Kids To Invest Money.
By Jo Ingles - March 29, 2001
Throughout the next month of April, the state's commerce department will offer tips to young Ohioans on ways to invest and save money. It will be sending speakers to deliver that message to 95 elementary, middle, and high school classes throughout the state.

In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, agency spokesman Dennis Ginty explains how the speakers will deliver their message.
Jo Ingles reports (2:14)
Ginty says, while it's common for high school students to have credit cards, he finds few of them with a stock portfolio. He hopes this program will make them think about how they spend their money.

And Ginty says the speakers will be driving home the fact that, if students start saving early and invest wisely, they could be millionaires by the time they retire. He says that fact often captures their attention.
