| Some Mail Carriers Counting Bunnies. |

Some rural mail carriers aren't just looking out for mailboxes, they're also
watching for rabbits, pheasants, and quail. This is happening in the village of
Ashley, about 40 miles northeast of Columbus. The village postmaster, Dan Sullivan,
says his carriers are some of those looking for the wildlife. In an interview
with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, Sullivan explains they are trying to help
the Ohio Department of Natural Resources count these species. State wildlife officials
say they're learning a lot from this project. The spring count showed that the
rabbit population was steady but pheasant and quail numbers continue to decline. |
