Ohio death row inmate John Byrd has won several more weeks of life. A federal appeals court has put his execution on hold for at least another 45 days, until a magistrate can consider Byrd's claim that he's actually innocent of the murder conviction that landed him on death row in 1983.
Byrd's attorneys are celebrating their court victory. Prosecutors are frustrated. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen has the story from both sides of the courtroom. |
