| Judge to Rule on Ohio Pornography Law. |
|
By The Associated Press - August 2, 2002 |

(Dayton-AP) -- A federal judge is expected to rule today on whether Ohio's new anti-pornography law is constitutional. The law would add computer images to the list of possible ways to display sexually explicit material and other content deemed harmful to juveniles. Authorities say it will give them another tool to prosecute sexual predators who use the Internet.
But attorneys representing bookstores, publishers and video software dealers have sued the state. They say the law would violate the constitutional right to free speech and restrict Internet communications. They have asked Rice to temporarily block enforcement of the law before it goes into effect Monday. |
