There’s more dismal news on Ohio’s unemployment front. The official jobless rate for November is 6.5 per cent, up from October’s rate of 6.4. Earlier this year, the monthly unemployment numbers were often below six per cent, but the last few have been above the six per cent level. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen talked about the numbers with Dennis Evans of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. He says 382,000 Ohioans were without jobs last month, an increase over the October number. As usual, the unemployment rates at the county level vary widely. On the low end, there are Delaware and Holmes counties with a jobless rate of 3.3 per cent. On the high end, Morgan Count with a jobless rate of nearly 17 per cent. |
