Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": Lawmakers once again look at electing to change voting laws. Democrats hit back again against JobsOhio. And conservative activists who say they were targeted for extra scrutiny by the IRS speak out as they prepare to sue.

Recounts almost completed at boards of elections around Ohio.
By Karen Kasler - December 22, 2004
86 of Ohio’s 88 counties have finished their recounts, with just Lucas and Licking Counties still finishing up their recounts. And in spite of concerns by critics of President Bush’s victory in Ohio, the final tallies show just a few hundred votes have been shaved off Bush’s nearly 119-thousand vote win. Carlo Loparo is a spokesman for Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. He talked about the ending of the recount process with Ohio Public Radio’s Karen Kasler. Elections officials say there are few reports of problems. But those who asked for a recount are critical of the process, saying votes from electronic machines can’t be verified, that some counties aren’t using random samples for hand recounts, and that provisional ballots and other discarded ballots aren’t being examined. Critics plan a rally in Columbus January 3, three days before the electoral college results will be announced in Washington.
