It was the most bitter debate in decades in the Ohio Senate. And it erupted as legislators debated a new budget for state government. The debate was long too, stretching from Wednesday afternoon to the wee hours of Thursday morning. Majority Republicans and minority Democrats fought a war of words over how to spend 51 billion dollars during the next two years on programs that impact virtually every Ohioan, and how to raise that money. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports. |
