Watch This Week's "The State of Ohio" Online
Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": The Senate version of the budget is on its way, with just a few weeks remaining to hammer out differences with the House. Lawmakers try to clarify the state auditor's role with JobsOhio. And we revisit and update two controversial issues from the last year - the abortion debate in Ohio and the state's new exotic animals law and the facility it created.

Warm weather is finally here, and a sometimes-deadly disease could be arriving soon.
By Bill Cohen - May 22, 2006
It’s spring again, and time for the West Nile Virus. Ohio health officials are warning people to continue to take precautions against the mosquitos that carry the disease, even though the number of Ohioans who have been stricken by it has been much lower than in 2002, the peak year for the illness. Kristopher Weiss of the Ohio Health Department told Ohio Public Radio’s Bill Cohen that most people who get West Nile recover without even knowing they’ve had the illness. But, on the other hand, the virus can be deadly. Last year, for example, out of 61 Ohioans who got the disease, two died.
