If you have a bag of fresh spinach in your refrigerator, the Ohio Department of Health is asking you to throw it away. Agency spokesman Brett Adkins says bagged spinach is thought to be causing potentially deadly outbreaks of E.coli infection in at least nine states, including Ohio.
Adkins says authorities are trying to pinpoint the source of the E.coli infection right now. But until that’s been done, he says it’s best to play it safe rather than sorry by throwing fresh bagged spinach away. Adkins says canned or frozen spinach are still safe for consumption. |
