Ohio's House Speaker Is Seeking Members For Committee To Oversee New Medical Marijuana Law

Statehouse News Bureau
Ohio House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger

The leader of the Ohio House of Representatives has established a process for making his appointments to the new Medical Marijuana Advisory Committee.

The new law establishes a 12-member advisory committee to oversee the medical marijuana program, which takes effect September 8. House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger says he is looking for people who would be good representatives for patients and for people involved in mental health treatment, and he says he wants the selection process to be thorough and transparent. This commission is just the first step. Other state agencies will write rules on the number and locations of marijuana growers, and on how doctors and patients can register with the state. It could take as long as two years for  the medical marijuana program up and running.
