Protests At DNC Unite Demonstrators From A Variety Of Causes

Jul 26, 2016

Protests at the DNC have been loud and disruptive at times, but as in Cleveland, they've been peaceful.

A large group of demonstrators were set up in the designated protest area just outside the security zone near Wells Fargo Arena to greet delegates as they arrived. The protestors could only be seen from one entrance, and were kept back behind heavy fencing.

A much larger protest shut down the streets surrounding Philadelphia City Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Hundreds of people from groups ranging from Black Lives Matter to Code Pink to those concerned about Palestinian rights, healthcare, criminal justice reform and other causes came together for a big demonstration that snarled traffic for several hours during rush hour. The protest was peaceful, and like in Cleveland, police on bicycles surrounded the huge group but kept a distance.
