Last year, seven people were sentenced to death, and six death row inmates are considered "close" to execution. Those are a few of the highlights in the 2005 Capital Crimes report from the state attorney general's office. Deputy attorney general Matthew Hellman says there are four state cases and 17 federal cases that have been pending in the same court for more than two years with no action, which he describes as "unfortunate". There are 196 people facing execution in Ohio - two are women. And there is one man who's been sentenced to die in Ohio who isn't incarcerated here. Timothy Dunlap is on death row in Idaho. |
